Week 4: Music Response

I think Tim McGraw wrote “Red Rag Top” to show that love is real no matter what age you are. He was twenty and she was eighteen. That’s a two year difference and they had real love. I think Tim McGraw succeeds at trying show love is real at all ages. In the songs he talks about getting her pregnant, and that they were not ready to have children. That shows that they were responsible enough to make their own decisions. Even though they do end up breaking up and he never sees her anymore doesn't mean that he doesn't still have strong feelings for her. I’m sure feelings like that will never go away. He talks about her pretty green eyes and how it brings back memories when he sees a girl with green eyes at a stop light, it makes him think about his old girlfriend. Like I said before about him getting his girlfriend pregnant, I think he talked about that because a lot of teenage girls get pregnant now days by their boyfriends, and not always do the boys love the girls. I think he wanted to show that even though he did get her pregnant at a young age he still did love and care for her, but they just realized that they were not ready to take on that kind of commitment. In this song I feel that Tim McGraw was also trying to show sadness, because he lost the girl he loved. So he was probably trying to show that you need to hold on to something good once you have it, because it can be taken away in no time.
